Every inch a royal! Colcannon, the 2018 Holsteiner grading’s first reserve champion stallion, boasts all the typical Holsteiner attributes: He is elegant and typey as well as big-framed with good basic gaits whereas describing his jumping qualities calls for the superlative, considering his near perfect push-off, ability, bascule, and leg technique. His sire Cornet Obolensky not only competed at the Olympics with Marco Kutscher but is also considered one of the world’s best show jumping sires in recent times (in 4th position on the 2017 WBFSH world ranking); as yet, he has sired as much as 288 S level jumpers with his offspring’s earnings amounting to more than 7.97 million euros. The damsire, stallion performance test winner Contender, used to be the leading sire of all Holsteiner Verband stallions for years. His offspring includes 127 licensed sons and 427 S level jumpers, their life earnings by now exceeding the magic 10 million euro mark. Disco, a sister to his 2nd dam, is a successful international level show jumper in Hungary under the saddle of Zoltan Czekus. Moreover, he carries two of the most versatile Holsteiner sires in the 3rd and 4th generation, respectively: Aljano (grand prix winner under Karin Winter-Polac) and Coriander (grand prix results with Wolfgang Schade) both virtually guarantee rideability, quality basic gaits and performance attitude of the highest standard along with the obligatory Holsteiner jumping ability. His 4th dam, Doria II, is a full sister to the highly esteemed and proven breeding stallion Cordeur. The Holsteiner mare family 5881 has also produced the licensed stallions Carenaro (private stallion Oldbg., USA, stallion grading champion) and Marsala (Holst. Verb.), as well as several S level jumpers.
