Lacantus was an exceptional stallion with exemplary dual quality, convincing in regard to his type, gaits and jumping ability. The sire, Lord Calando, was a half brother of the Olympic stallion Carthago/Jos Lansink and produced international jumping horses such as Lux Z/Jerry Smit (ITA). The dam, Dornrose II, came from the superior show jumping sire Cantus, who produced important stallions such as Come On, Cascavelle, Cassius Clay, Calido I and II and Cyrano. Lacantus completed his stallion testing in Adelheidsdorf with a third place in a very strong group in 1996. His extremely good gaits, combined with the best rideability, were the driving force to train Lacantus as a dressage horse. He won 4 out of 4 riding horse competitions where he received notes up to 9.5 for movement, won young horse jumping competitions A, L and M and then M and S dressage. His progeny are quite versatile and have often reached S level in jumping and dressage. Lacantus delivered three licensed sons and ten state premium mares. Holsteiner line 2578, with the internationally successful show jumper Conthendrix/Andre Thieme coming from this line.
